Characteristics of the Four Phases in Your Menstrual Cycle

Your menstrual phase, or period week, is the first phase of your menstrual cycle.

During this phase, your estrogen and progesterone levels are at their lowest. It is common to experience low energy levels, low mood swings, and low sex drive.

Here are the vibes your can expect some suggestions to implement during this phase to optimize your week:

The follicular phase starts once your period ends.

Estrogen and progesterone start to rise at the beginning of this phase. Your energy levels will come back, and you’ll experience positive moods and an increase in your sex drive.

You can expect an increase in your creativity and motivation to take inspired action, as well as implement the following:

Your ovulatory phase is when your body is ovulating.

Your estrogen levels peak, and progesterone and testosterone continue to rise. Similar to the follicular phase, you’ll usually experience high energy, moods and sex drive during this time. This phase is your most social phase, when you’ll want to see others and be seen!

Implement the following to optimize this phase:

Your luteal phase is the last phase of your menstrual cycle, right before your period starts.

This week is when your body is preparing for a potential pregnancy, with estrogen and progesterone levels at their highest, before decreasing throughout the phase. This is when premenstrual symptoms tend to hit, so you can expect to experience low energy, mood swings and a low sex drive.
